Lizzy Forman enters the 2015 Mini Transat

12th Dec, 2014

Entry complete for the 2015 Mini Transat!

On the 6th December, at the Paris Boat Show, I handed in my entry form and deposit for next year's solo transatlantic race.

Within the first half an hour, 49 entries had been made; no doubt continuing the trend of over subscription for this epic race. However, having gained more than enough race miles, and with my 1000 nm qualification passage complete, a space on the starting line should not be a problem.

Also during the Paris Boat Show, I attended the Classe Mini AGM; we voted on some interesting points such as whether or not satellite phones should be allowed (the response? An overwhelming no!) and had an interesting debate regarding the possibility of foiling prototypes!

The evening ended with a fantastic party on a barge on the Seine, celebrating 20 years of Classe Mini. With all the British entrants in attendance, it was really fun!
Total immersion!
  • Solo and double-handed training: speed testing, sail selection and defining my polars. I can't wait to get out again in the new year with the other Minis and coach.
  • Fitness training: 5-6 times a week, in the pool, on the running track or on the fitness mat. Having joined a local Triathlon Club, training has got serious!
  • ''Parlez-vous français?'' Bien sûr. I go to French school three times a week!

Official charities for 2015

Next year I am going to be working hard to raise funds for The Blue Marine Foundation and the Rotary Charity Fundraisers.

I will have some fun ways for you to get involved in the coming months, while also taking on another big challenge myself; watch this space!

What's next?

My focus at the moment is on getting some boat work done before winter really sets in.
I want to be ready and rearing to go for the start of 2015...
so until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
